BI-MONTHLY FROM THE BAR: BEER OF THE End of the BI-MONTH

This issue’s recommendation is a lovely collaboration between Calvert Brewing Company and True Respite, and just happens to honor a favorite horror film of mine. Sadly, it might be a little hard for you to find, because I sat on my one can of Come Play With Us imperial vanilla porter for several months. It just never seemed to be quite the right time given this summer’s heat.

If you can find yourself a can, there is a pleasant, up-front pop of chocolate, complemented by notes of vanilla in the finish. With a creamy, silky mouthfeel, the brew was a welcome nightcap on a rainy, 60 degree night. It’s not quite dessert in a glass, but it’s definitely heading in that direction. If you are a fan of malt-forward brews, and you can find this one, it’s definitely worth your time and money.
